How to use this set

The 12 questions below are ordered the way an exam block is rather than easiest-first: two gentle openers, then a run of medium, and a hard one every sixth question — 2 of the 12 sit in the hard band. The set mixes data interpretation (table) and data interpretation (caselet), in the round-robin the paper itself sets rather than one form at a time.

Work each question on paper before you open its solution. The walkthrough is the method itself, step for step, so reading it first turns a practice set into a reading exercise and teaches nothing. Most free practice for this topic is a scanned upload or a blog quiz, and neither can tell you a question has exactly one answer. That is the one thing this set can promise: it is minted, not typed. FAQ

Should I read the whole table before starting?

Read the headers and the units, not the numbers. Knowing what the rows and columns mean, and whether figures are in lakhs or thousands, takes ten seconds and prevents the mistakes that cost the whole set. Then pull only the cells each question asks for.

What makes a caselet harder than a table?

The data is in prose, so you build the table yourself. Do exactly that before answering anything — sketch the rows and columns in the margin. A caselet answered by scanning back into the paragraph for each question takes three times as long and is where the errors come from.

How do I speed up percentage-change questions in DI?

Compare before you compute. If the question asks which of five values rose the most, the crude ratio is usually enough to eliminate three options, and only then is a precise calculation needed. Computing all five is what puts candidates behind the clock.
