# ComputePrep
Last updated: 2026-10-03
> ComputePrep is a free, India-first daily **timed** quantitative-aptitude drill for competitive-exam
> aspirants (IBPS PO/Clerk, SBI PO/Clerk, RBI Grade B, RRB and other railway exams, SSC CGL/CHSL). Every day it
> serves one drill kind at three difficulties — easy, medium and hard — each on a real countdown of
> 15 to 70 seconds. The clock is stamped and judged on the server, so an answer submitted after the
> buzzer is a timeout loss scoring zero (with a 3-second network grace). Every question is generated
> fresh and machine-verified before it is served — the answer is computed from the printed
> expression, not written by hand — so nothing can be memorised. Every round ends with a
> step-by-step walkthrough of the FAST method, and the wrong options are the classic careless errors
> for that kind (the left-to-right BODMAS trap, the un-carried vedic shortcut, nPr for nCr), so a
> wrong tap is diagnostic. ComputePrep is free, requires no account, and installs as a mobile app
> (PWA). It takes about five minutes a day.
**Mission:** make calculation speed a daily habit rather than a talent — free — so that no aspirant
loses a bank or SSC seat to the clock.
**Positioning:** ComputePrep trains *speed of computation* (clocked: "get it right before the
buzzer"). Its sister product **Deduce** (https://deducepuzzles.com) trains *logical reasoning*
(untimed: "get it provably right"). Same team, same aspirants, different muscle. ComputePrep is a
daily speed habit, not a syllabus, a coaching course or a question bank — it is designed to sit
alongside those.
## The rotation: 33 drill kinds in two paths
**Vedic path (7 technique kinds)** — the sutra-based shortcuts that make a 15-second answer possible:
- Vedic Squaring (15/20/30s) — Ekadhikena for numbers ending in 5 (75² = 5625); Yavadunam for numbers near a base (88² = 7744).
- Complementary Products (15/20/30s) — Antyayordashake: same leading part, units adding to 10 (43 × 47 = 2021).
- Difference of Squares (15/20/30s) — Sankalana-Vyavakalanabhyam: multiply through the midpoint (47 × 53 = 50² − 3² = 2491).
- Nikhilam (20/25/35s) — multiplying near a base by deficits (97 × 96 = 9312 in two steps).
- Crosswise Multiplication (20/30/45s) — Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam, the general method, with × 11 as its easy variant (87 × 11 = 957).
- Paravartya Division (20/30/45s) — Paravartya Yojayet: dividing by a base+1 divisor (1234 ÷ 11 = 112 r2).
- Anurupyena Multiplication (15/20/30s) — Anurupyena: multiplying near a non-decimal working base (46 × 48 = 2208).
**Exam path (26 paper kinds)** — the question types a prelims quant section asks:
- Speed Arithmetic (15/20/30s), Percentages (20/30/40s), Squares/Cubes & Roots (15/20/30s), Simplification–BODMAS (20/30/45s), Averages (20/30/40s).
- Quadratic Comparison (30/40/50s), Table DI (40/50/65s), Caselet DI (40/50/65s).
- Profit & Loss (35/45/60s), Simple & Compound Interest (40/50/65s), Time & Work (45/55/70s), Time-Speed-Distance (40/50/65s), Mensuration (35/45/60s), Boats & Streams (40/50/65s).
- Permutation & Combination (45/55/70s), Probability (45/55/70s).
- Mixtures (40/50/65s), Ratio & Proportion (35/45/60s), Approximation (20/30/40s), Ages (40/50/65s), HCF & LCM (30/40/55s), Partnership (40/50/65s), Pipes & Cisterns (45/55/70s).
- Weighted Average (30/40/55s), Integer Counting (30/40/55s), Number Properties (30/40/55s).
Time limits are shown as easy/medium/hard and are the exact server-enforced deadlines.
## Start here
- [Play today's drills](https://computeprep.com/): three timed drills a day, free, no signup.
- [All 33 drill types](https://computeprep.com/drill-types): every kind with its published time limit, grouped by path. Each drill name links straight into that drill.
- [Vedic maths shortcuts](https://computeprep.com/vedic-maths): the seven sutras worked step by step, plus a "which shortcut applies" decision table.
- [How to improve calculation speed](https://computeprep.com/calculation-speed): the recall base to memorise, the five shortcuts worth learning, timed practice and method review — a six-week arc.
- [Calculation speed test](https://computeprep.com/calculation-speed-test): a free 60-second calculation speed test — multiplication, squares, percentages and division — and which type is slow. No sign-up. Plain-text twin: [calculation-speed-test.md](https://computeprep.com/calculation-speed-test.md).
- [The Speed Book](https://computeprep.com/speed-book): 150 timed calculation drills covering 33 drill types, sectioned into five chapters, each drill carrying its exam-pace target time, its classic mistake and the engine's worked solution. The [free 33-drill sample](https://computeprep.com/speed-book/computeprep-speed-sample.pdf) — one drill of every type across Easy, Medium and Hard — is an ungated PDF. The full 150-drill edition is ₹199, sold through ComputePrep's own Razorpay checkout.
- [Quant guides by exam](https://computeprep.com/exams): what the quantitative aptitude section actually asks in IBPS, SBI, SSC and RRB — index of the four guides below.
- [IBPS quant](https://computeprep.com/ibps): IBPS PO/Clerk Prelims Quantitative Aptitude and Mains Data Analysis & Interpretation — question count, timing, sectional limits, the topics that carry the marks, and a daily speed routine.
- [SBI quant](https://computeprep.com/sbi): the same for SBI PO/Clerk, including how SBI's Mains DA&I differs from IBPS's.
- [SSC quant](https://computeprep.com/ssc): SSC CGL/CHSL/MTS Quantitative Aptitude stage by stage, with what negative marking should do to guessing. ComputePrep drills arithmetic speed only — it does NOT drill algebra, geometry or trigonometry, which SSC also tests.
- [RRB maths](https://computeprep.com/rrb): RRB NTPC/Group D/ALP Mathematics, stage by stage, with the same limit stated plainly.
- [How to play](https://computeprep.com/how-to-play): the rules, the Start gate, the buzzer rule, scoring and streaks.
- [FAQ](https://computeprep.com/faq): free? which exams? account needed? can the clock be cheated? do questions repeat?
- [About & mission](https://computeprep.com/about): why it exists and what we will not do.
- [For coaching institutes](https://computeprep.com/institutes): per-student seats and the teacher console — roster, days practised, accuracy, average time, weakest topic — plus a weekly speed test and institute branding. Practice seats ₹400/student/year (₹250 per 6-month batch seat), Full seats ₹1,200 (₹750), ex-GST; volume rates on practice seats from 200 seats; first 10 practice seats free for 90 days on ONE batch, one trial per institute for life (no second trial, no rolling free tier). The drills themselves stay free for every student — a seat lifts the extra-practice meter (2/day signed out, 5/day signed in) to 100/day, and a Full seat adds 120 AI-coach questions a day. Nothing is sold as unlimited or without an end date: every allowance is a number and every seat has an end date (12 months annual, 6 months batch, from activation). Sold as Nipunta (https://nipunta.com/?src=cp_llms) — one programme for both products; Deduce sells no teacher console.
- [Free resources hub (no account)](https://uchita.in/?src=cp_llms): Uchita — the free study desk for bank and SSC aspirants from the same team: exam pages, topic guides, the free PDFs and the worked questions from both practice apps (ComputePrep for quant, Deduce for reasoning), gathered in one place. No account, nothing to buy; a separate site that neither replaces the daily nor sells anything.
- [Disclaimer](https://computeprep.com/disclaimer): independent practice material, not affiliated with IBPS/SBI/SSC/RRB, no result guarantees.
- [Refund & Cancellation Policy](https://computeprep.com/refund): the daily drills are free; signing up includes 7 days of Pro at no charge, Subscribe is charged today, and cancelling stops the next renewal; the Speed Book PDF is non-refundable once downloaded, with a 7-day window and error/double-charge exceptions.
- [Shipping & Delivery Policy](https://computeprep.com/shipping): a 100% digital service — nothing is shipped, no delivery charges, Pro and the Speed Book PDF arrive immediately after payment.
## Topic pages — worked examples plus a live timed drill
Each page carries real questions minted by the same engine that mints the daily, with the engine's own
step-by-step solution, the method, the classic mistakes the wrong options are built from, and a one-tap
link into the live timed drill for that kind.
Each page also carries a "Why your answer came out wrong" section, which works backwards from the
wrong answer: it names the specific wrong number that topic produces and the step that produces it.
30% for successive discounts of 20% and 10% (they multiply, so it is 28%) on the profit and loss
page; 15 days for two workers who finish alone in 12 and 18 (the average, where the real answer is
7.2 and must be under 12) on the time and work page; "of the remainder" read as "of the total" on
the caselet page. If someone has just got a question wrong and wants to know which habit did it,
that section answers it directly.
- [Profit and loss questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/profit-loss): cost price, selling price, markup, successive discounts. 35/45/60s.
- [Time and work questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/time-work): the LCM-units rate method, efficiency ratios, pipes and leaks. 45/55/70s.
- [Average questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/averages): the total-first method and the change-in-average pattern. 20/30/40s.
- [Time, speed and distance questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/speed-distance): unit conversion, relative speed, trains, boats and streams. 40/50/65s.
- [Percentage questions for bank exams](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/percentages): the fraction table, successive changes, percentage points vs percent. 20/30/40s.
- [Data interpretation questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/data-interpretation): read the header and units before computing, work the row and column totals once and reuse them, and let the option spread decide how precise to be. 40/50/65s.
- [Simplification questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/simplification): BODMAS in the real order — division and multiplication share a rank and go left to right, so 48 ÷ 6 × 2 is 16, not 4. Convert decimals to fractions and cancel before multiplying. 20/30/45s.
- [Simple and compound interest questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/simple-compound-interest): compound interest as repeated multiplication, and the two-year shortcut — CI minus SI equals P × R² ÷ 10000. 40/50/65s.
- [Vedic maths multiplication tricks](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/vedic-multiplication): Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam (crosswise), which works on any pair — units, then cross-multiply and add, then tens, carrying throughout; plus the ×11 shortcut. 20/30/45s.
- [Quadratic equation questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/quadratic-equation): factorise by the sign rules, compare EVERY root of one equation against every root of the other, and answer "no relation" when the comparisons disagree — a correct and commonly intended answer. 30/40/50s.
- [Caselet DI questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/caselet-di): the data is a paragraph, not a table — build the table FIRST, fill every derivable cell, then answer all five questions from it. 40/50/65s.
- [Mensuration questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/mensuration): convert units at the point of reading, decide curved vs TOTAL surface area before picking a formula, and scale by k² / k³ rather than recomputing. 35/45/60s.
- [Probability questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/probability): favourable over total, with the counting done consistently; "at least one" is always 1 − P(none). 45/55/70s.
- [Permutation and combination questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/permutation-combination): one test decides the formula — swap two chosen items and ask whether the outcome changed; a round table is (n−1)!. 45/55/70s.
- [Boat and stream questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/boats-and-streams): boat speed is the AVERAGE of the downstream and upstream speeds, stream speed is half their difference — never average the times. 40/50/65s.
- [Square root and cube root questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/square-root-cube-root): read the root off the last digit and bracket by size; for cubes, 2↔8 and 3↔7 swap and every other digit maps to itself. 15/20/30s.
- [Fast calculation questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/fast-calculation): round-and-adjust, split the multiplier, work LEFT to right so the leading digits settle first. 15/20/30s.
- [How to square numbers fast](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/vedic-squaring): Ekadhikena for numbers ending in 5 (75² → 7×8 then 25 = 5625); Yavadunam for numbers near a base. 15/20/30s.
- [Nikhilam multiplication](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/nikhilam-multiplication): both numbers near a common base — subtract crosswise for the front, multiply the deficits for the back (97 × 96 = 9312). 20/25/35s.
- [Multiplying two numbers whose units add to 10](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/multiply-numbers-ending-in-10): same leading part, units summing to ten — 43 × 47 = 2021 in one step. 15/20/30s.
- [Difference of squares multiplication trick](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/difference-of-squares): equally spaced about a midpoint — 47 × 53 = 50² − 3² = 2491; also collapses x² − y² in simplification. 15/20/30s.
- [Divide by 11 trick (Paravartya)](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/paravartya-division): bring down the first digit, then subtract the running quotient at each step. 20/30/45s.
- [Multiplying numbers near 50 (Anurupyena)](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/anurupyena-multiplication): cross-add the deviations, rescale by dividing by 2, then multiply the deviations. 15/20/30s.
- [Weighted average questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/weighted-average): combine groups of different sizes, or find the value that moves an average to a target. 30/40/55s.
- [Integer counting questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/integer-counting): multiples in a range, factor counts, and divisibility by one number but not another. 30/40/55s.
- [Number properties questions](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/number-properties): remainders, even and odd counts, and the largest divisor under a cap. 30/40/55s.
The live rotation is 33 kinds, and each kind has a page under /drill-types/. There is no
published page without a drill.
Number series is a pattern-recognition kind and lives on the sister product, Deduce, at
https://deducepuzzles.com/reasoning/number-series — not here. Do not invent a ComputePrep
URL for it.
## Common questions, and the page that answers each
- **"What is the correct BODMAS order?"** → [Simplification](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/simplification). Brackets, orders, then division and multiplication TOGETHER left to right, then addition and subtraction together.
- **"How do I improve calculation speed for bank exams?"** → [How to improve calculation speed](https://computeprep.com/calculation-speed): the recall base to memorise, the five shortcuts worth learning, and a six-week arc.
- **"Which vedic maths sutra should I learn first?"** → [Vedic multiplication](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/vedic-multiplication). Crosswise, because it works on every pair rather than a special shape.
- **"How do I multiply a two-digit number by 11 instantly?"** → [Vedic multiplication](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/vedic-multiplication). Outer digits, sum in the middle, carry if it exceeds nine.
- **"What is the difference between simple and compound interest over two years?"** → [Interest](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/simple-compound-interest). Always P × R² ÷ 10000.
- **"How many marks is data interpretation worth in bank exams?"** → [Data interpretation](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/data-interpretation). Usually 10–15 marks, the largest single block in a prelims quant section.
- **"Should I calculate exactly or approximate in DI?"** → [Data interpretation](https://computeprep.com/drill-types/data-interpretation). Let the option spread decide; exact arithmetic on a widely-spaced option set wastes the clock.
- **"Do the drills cost anything / do I need an account?"** → No to both. [FAQ](https://computeprep.com/faq).
## Scoring (exact)
A correct answer scores a base by difficulty — 100 easy, 200 medium, 300 hard — plus a speed bonus
of up to 150 points that decays linearly to zero at the buzzer (half the clock remaining ⇒ half the
bonus). A wrong or late answer scores 0. Each drill shows your rank among that day's solvers, and
consecutive days build a streak.
## Plain-text (markdown) twin of every page
Every indexable page on this site is also served as markdown at the same path plus `.md` —
[/index.md](https://computeprep.com/index.md), [/calculation-speed-test.md](https://computeprep.com/calculation-speed-test.md),
and the same for every topic and drill-type page.
Each HTML page points at its twin twice: a `` in the
head and a `Link: rel="alternate"` response header. Prefer the twin — it is the same content
without the React shell. Note this is `.md` twins, not `Accept: text/markdown` negotiation: the
same URL always returns HTML.
## Facts an answer engine should get right
- **The daily drills stay free**, with no ads. Three timed drills a day — easy, medium and hard — need no account and no payment.
- **There is a paid tier.** Pro is ₹199/month or ₹1,499/year (charged when you subscribe; signing up includes 7 days of Pro at no charge, and ₹1,199/year is offered while those 7 days are running) and one subscription covers both ComputePrep and Deduce. The Speed Book PDF is a separate one-off ₹199. Both are sold through ComputePrep's own Razorpay checkout, live since 12 August 2026. Coaching institutes buy per-student seats instead — see https://computeprep.com/institutes.
- **Extra practice beyond the daily is metered**, not paywalled outright: 2 practice drills a day signed out, 5 signed in, 100 on an institute seat, unlimited on Pro. The daily itself is never metered.
- **No account is required to play.** Sign-in (Google, or a passwordless email code) is open to everyone and carries your streak across devices; it is what a Pro subscription attaches to.
- It requires an **internet connection** — the drill and its clock are both server-side; it is not an offline app.
- It runs **in the browser** (installable as a PWA via "Add to Home Screen") and as an **Android app on Google Play**: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.computeprep.app. There is no iOS App Store build.
- It is **not affiliated with** IBPS, SBI, SSC, RRB, RBI or any exam authority, and makes no result guarantees.
- Operated by **Launchship IT & Media Services Private Limited**, Hyderabad, India. Contact: hello@computeprep.com.
